“We were destined to team up and make this happen. Challenge is a phenomenal organization. They don’t just get people jobs—they offer coaching, ways to overcome language barriers, and help to older individuals who want to transition back into the workforce. It’s been a huge help—without this collaboration, we may not have been able to fill these positions.”

Noelle Daniel

Director of Environmental Services, Cayuga Medical Center

READY TO CLEAN!

Challenge Teams are prepared to meet the increased demand for CDC- and EPA-compliant sanitation services in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

Our trained, supervised, insured custodial crews have just undergone extra training in today’s best practices and are being deployed to public and private employers across the region, including Cayuga Medical Center.

Does your business or agency need to step up your cleaning routine? Talk to Joe today: joes@aboutchallenge.org or 607-272-8990 ext. 128.

We are only assigning those who are healthy and want to work through this crisis to these teams, we monitor our staff’s health daily and ensure that they are equipped with safety protections such as gloves and gowns when needed, and we have suspended our sick leave policy for the time being, so that anyone who is sick has paid sick leave and can stay home without affecting their pay. Here are the rates for this service––note that these are temporary rates in effect through December 31, 2020:

$16.00/hr per cleaner
$18.00/hr per supervisor/cleaner (if necessary)
$1.00/hr for materials (gloves, gowns, cleaning solution, etc.)
57.5¢/mi for travel (only outside Tompkins County)

We have a minimum charge of one hour for whatever team size you need, and our staff can help prepare an estimate of charges and schedule for you after discussing your situation and needs.

  • A solution for your staffing needs: We create dishroom, grounds, and custodial teams that fit into your operation and keep things running—so you can focus on your clients and customers
  • Bringing passion & inclusiveness: Our integrated teams—including people with and without disabilities or barriers—will add enthusiasm, dedication, and new perspectives to your workplace
  • Affordable and flexible: Hourly rates are customized depending on team size and customer needs—all include a working supervisor, recruitment, training, and ongoing coaching support

7 QUESTIONS: TESS FRASER, DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT & MARKETING SINCE 1/6/2020

Your first paid job was: "Working at a hardware store in Buffalo as a cashier."

I’m giving you $2,000 in cash, half to spend only on yourself and half to spend only on your team at work. You have until the end of the day to spend it. You buy: "A day of self-care at Mirbeau Inn & Spa Skaneateles, and for my team, I'd get them each some new plants––because plants make people happy––and then treat them to a wonderful in-person lunch––because I miss their faces terribly!"

In the movie of your life, the song playing during the opening credits will be: "'I Was Here' by Beyoncé."

And you’ll be played by: "Gal Gadot."

The most thought-provoking thing I’ve read in the last year was: "'A New Earth' by Eckhart Tolle––I've read it many times and I learn something new each time."

Your perfect pizza topping: "Fresh mozzarella and basil."

If you could spend three years in three different jobs, other than those you’ve ever had, you’d try being: "A yoga instructor, an author, and a farmer."
