Rising to the Challenge!
Meet Heather D.
If you’ve stopped by Challenge’s main office in the South Hill Business Campus over the first month of the year, there’s a chance you may have been greeted by Heather’s smiling face.
Heather first came to Challenge in February of 2012, and during her time here has gained valuable experience in a number of roles. She’s had work experiences that included an outreach role at Cornell Cooperative Extension, a clerical aide internship at the Tompkins County Department of Social Service, a shelf-reader position at the Tompkins County Public Library, and now, as a reception assistant at Challenge.
Heather says at the front desk, she’s learned everything from working the phones for our busy office to using computer programs used to keep meetings planned and things organized around Challenge.Heather has worked with staff members Harrison and Lily closely during her time at the front desk. They say she’s worked hard to become independent and can do most tasks without much assistance at all.
Take a look at Heather’s resume, and you’ll immediately be impressed. In 2011, Heather received her Associates Degree in Human Services from Tompkins Cortland Community College, and has also earned an Executive Office Assistant Certificate from TC3. She has ambitions to continue her education and pursue two important interests to her – graphic design and animation.
And if she doesn’t make it big in any of those fields, Heather says she also loves to write stories, and even left the door open to possibly writing a book someday!
Heather told us she has one other goal as well. She says she wants to “work in helping people.”
Great job, Heather!
