Meet Kelley S.
For years, Kelley has brought her enthusiasm and energy to Challenge, working in various roles. Kelley started out working with job developers at Challenge, and then transitioned into the Employment Training Program (ETP).
For eight months, Kelley was part of a work experience at Cayuga Ridge, where she had a number of responsibilities, including filing, and helping to assist the residents there.
There’s a lot more on Kelley’s plate now, as she recently started working at the front desk at Challenge’s main office two days a week. She works with Yvonne and Patricia to make sure the office runs smoothly, and answers questions that visitors may have.
Kelley will be using some of those skills in her next work experience at the Museum of the Earth, where she will be helping out one day a week.
Kelley says her favorite part of coming to Challenge is gaining the experience she’s been able to use over the years.
“I think they’re helpful,” Kelley says about Challenge. “They make learning a new job easier.”
Lily, a Job Developer at Challenge who has worked closely with Kelley, describes her at resilient, cheerful and optimistic. She says Kelley is talented and caring, and is “the reason I come to work in the morning.”
Kelley even helped Lily recently to sell Krispy Kreme doughnuts at the Triphammer Marketplace during Challenge’s annual fundraiser!
Outside of her experience through Challenge, Kelley participates in programs through the Ithaca Youth Bureau and the Special Olympics. She takes part in bowling, bocce and track and field events, but says bowling is her favorite.
